Shooting From The Hip

Sometimes shooting a subject without using the viewfinder can have surprising results.

When the bride and groom “faux drove off” (it was rehearsed that they would do that) I packed up for the day. At least, mentally. As I was walking back to my car, this little girl was still blowing bubbles. I was a few feet from her, but knew that if I put the camera to my face she would notice and I would lose the “candid shot”. So I swung my camera right above my hip. She, despite my careful approach, noticed what I was doing and decided to pull a fast one on me! She blew the bubbles towards the camera and this is the result.
